| How
to Measure Shutters:
There are basically two
types of installations: Inside Mount and Outside Mount.
Inside Mount
The first thing to look for on an inside mount is that there is enough
depth to the window for the shutter to operate. A good rule of thumb
to follow is that on a 2 1/2" louvre you should have 2 inches of
clear depth on the inside casing of the window, and 2 1/2" of
clear depth on the inside casing of the window for a 3 1/2" louvre.
This depth will allow enough room for the louvres to turn and space for
the magnetic catches to be installed.
Next measure the width of the opening. Measuring at three
locations, top, middle and bottom of the opening, record the smallest
(narrowest) measurement. Next, measure the inside height.
Measuring at the left, centre and right areas of the opening record the
shortest of these three measurements.
NOTE: If any of
the width measurement vary by more than 1/2" or any of the height
measurements vary more than 1/2", an inside installation cannot be
properly done. Cadillac will make factory deductions, so your shutters
will fit. You are required to provide us with the opening sizes
only.
Outside Mount
First, measure the width of the window from outside of trim to outside
of trim at the top, centre and bottom and record the widest
measurement. Next, measure the height of the window from outside to
outside of trim at the left, centre and right of the window, recording the
largest measurement.
An outside mount will
normally consist of a four piece frame which will be mounted around the
outside of the window trim, creating a box in which the shutters will be
hung. Make sure your measurements are exact to the 1/16th of an inch
in order to provide a proper fit for your shutters.
For windows with no
trim, measure your opening sizes as described above and add two inches to
your width and two inches to your length, in order to wall mount your
shutters.
